Yesterday I attended the OBEA Student Day in Oklahoma City. It was a time where broadcasting professionals displayed what kind of jobs and internships their companies have to offer for all the EMPD students. I made some really good connections with mostly radio companies and was able to keep my balance in my 3in. heels. I have yet to decide which was a bigger accomplishment. At about noon, we all filed into the dinning area and had a catered meal! Though a huge step up from the ARA, the food wasn't the best, but it was entertaining to watch my classmates fight over the delicious rolls. It was a buffet style meal and after everyone had gotten their food, Ethan snuck back to the table and loaded up a plate full of rolls. Once he returned to the group, they were all but gone before the plate made contact with the table. They then presented the OBEA awards. Last semester I produced many radio commercials in my Audio Production class. One project Andrew, my classmate, and I did was for the Shawnee Animal Hospital.

It was alot of fun to produce, myself being the Vet and having to incorporate alot of animal sounds. Though we did well on the assignment, I didn't think it was good enough for competition, but Dr. Hadley thought otherwise. He entered our piece without our knowledge, only later telling us that we owed Mr. Bruce $10 for our entry fee. Going to the competition was not about the awards ceremony for me, but connecting to the professionals. However, to my surprise, Andrew and I took 1st place in the Radio Commercial category. Woohoo! It was exciting and very unexpected. Needless to say, I'm going to take entering competition more seriously from now on, and really work hard. Who knows, I may end up with some more plaques!
