So much has happened! I found out last week that I did not get the anchor position, but I got something even better. I am now the News30 Floor Manager, which I'm super excited about!! Though all of my new responsibilities are not clear until my training meeting on Thursday, my basic role is to be the middle man between the Video Suite and the broadcasting floor, cueing the anchors and making sure everything is running smoothly. I really think I'm going to like this a lot better and it will give me a much broader understanding of the different roles, which was my original goal.
Reason #42875245 why I love being a EMPD major is happening next Monday. I have the opportunity to be a Production Assistant for a guy coming to shoot footage on campus. I'm working from 9am to 6pm, so I'll have to miss a few classes but it's going to be such a great experience!! AND on top of that, I'm getting paid $100 to do it. Can I get a BOO YA?! There has been a lot of activity this weekend here at the desk, where I currently type. Some freshmen, who are not on my hall hung out with me at the desk last night for at least 2 hours which was great! I love getting to know other freshmen who I don't see on a regular basis. While we were all gathered around my computer watching youtube videos, the elevator opened exposing an elliptical machine from the basement exercise room. After dieing of laughter and shock I sat down on the bike and pushed the down button; I was going to find out who had done this. I could hear the group at the desk run downstairs to see what I was going to do. I proceeded to interrogate the boys in the lobby to find out who the perpetrator was. The truth was set free and this picture was taken as we all watched Austin remove the machine by himself, and return it to the exercise room. Needless to say I'm keeping a very close watch on these new Freshmen boys, they're a lively bunch.
And now I come to today, were my parents gave me some very exciting news. Last night we discussed the financial likelihood of me being able to go to Kim's wedding in Maryland in a couple of weeks. Last night the answer was no I wouldn't be able to go, but when I woke up this morning, things had changed! They told me they were going to be able to help me with a portion of the airfare, enabling me to go!!! Jackie, Laura, and I are going to make a trip out of it, flying out on a Wednesday, taking a train from Maryland to Washington D.C. and touring around on Thursday, before the wedding on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to it and feel so blessed that it worked out.
Well that's the update on my life! Who knows what will happen next, but I'm ready for this adventure!
sarah i love you :) praise the lord!!!!
